BLIND GUARDIAN

TWIST IN THE MYTH

2006

REVIEWED BY SAMANTHA

Review: I have to say I’ve been a Blind Guardian fan ever since I heard Into the Storm from Nightfall In Middle Earth.  They have such a unique sound and are one of my favorite bands.  This album is definitely a grower.  I liked it after the first listen and now after two dozen spins I’m loving it!  I can see why some might not like it; it doesn’t have the usual BG-style we are used to hearing.  A clue for the change is found in the interview they included at the end of the CD.  They said they wanted to go for a more modern sound and for something less complicated.  But don’t go screaming sellouts!  This album is very good.  In fact, it sounds heavier as compared to their recent efforts.  Kinda makes you wonder if they did this because their next album is going to be orchestral?!  If you’re the type that loves their folk side a lot you’ll definitely be in for a surprise with this one.  I recommend picking this one up because it’s a solid album from beginning to end.
