DREAM THEATER

SYSTEMATIC CHAOS

2007

REVIEW BY BLAKE

Review:

Dream Theater is not gonna pull off any big surprises anymore unless they go release a album of 3 and 4 minute songs. But they do always have new twists and turns to add to make it not be a continuation of the last release. This release is heavier then OCTAVARIUM. The lyrics and song titles are a lot darker with titles like THE DARK ETERNAL NIGHT, and THE MINISTRY OF LOST SOULS. The mind blowing solos and musical experiences continue and thats always gonna be a trademark of the quality of musicians this band includes. First single CONSTANT MOTION one of their straight out heavier tracks reminiscent of a PULL ME UNDER. And of course still the DT ballads even with the darker type themes. PROPHETS OF WAR incorporates some fan participation which should go over well live. And no lack of epics as is the DT standard with closing track IN THE PRESENCE OF ENEMIES part 2 clocking in at over 16 minutes. I am sure most DT fans will be happy with this and they will continue to grow a fan base for the fans that are open to such a do what they want type of band and setting themselves apart from most if not all progressive metal bands.
