Slayer
Feb. 07, 2007 Review written by Blake ![]() |
Thine Eyes Bleed: London, Ontario's own thrash metallers started off the Metal show. I am new to this band so this is my first listen to this band. They call themselves Aggresive Thrash Metal and thats exactly what they are. They blew through their approximately 30 minute set with a blistering brutal metal attack. Playing to about half the crowd that would file in for Slayer they did a very admirable job opening up the night. Lead singer Justin Wolfe welcoming SLAYER to London for the first time ever. Maybe a reason that SLAYER did come to London is the fact that THINE EYES BLEED bassist Johnny Araya is the brother of metal legend Tom. It always helps to have connections but also good to know they don't promote that on their website or anything. They have one album under there belts, IN THE WAKE OF SEPARATION. Definitely a band with great potential. THINE EYES BLEED ----WEBSITE Unearth: Hailing from Massachusettes this Thrash/Hardcore band just ripped it up and really got the Moshpit in a frenzy. Especially lead screamer Trevor Phillips who when not singing or headbanging was encouraging the Most Pit to go crazy and not let up. My first time seeing this band as well and I think the more experience they have showed in stage presence and not letting up at all. A total brutal assault to the metal senses and I am sure they got some new fans from this show and all other shows with their impressive live performances. Their latest release is IN THE EYES OF FIRE UNEARTH ---- WEBSITE Slayer: The mighty Slayer hit the stage to about 2,500 metal heads. The first trip to London, Ontario as usually they only play Toronto area when in Ontario, but on this tour they were doing some smaller places much to the delight of everyone in attendance. I am sure the first time for many to see SLAYER live especially the younger fans. Even with a smaller audience then they are used to they put on a killer show. Leading off the show with DISCIPLE and then WAR ENSEMBLE tne thrash legends were off. Playing cuts from latest release CHRIST ILLUSION to the old SLAYER classics like DIE BY THE SWORD, POST MORTEM, ANGEL OF DEATH and SOUTH OF HEAVEN. And no SLAYER show would go on without them thrashing out SEASONS OF THE ABYSS. Hanneman and King ripping solos always impress and of course Lombardo on the drums is what SLAYER is meant to be. 90 minutes of legendary thrash from a legendary band. In total a 3 and a half hour night of METAL with NO BALLADS!!!!!! Now thats a METAL SHOW!!!!!! |
