DREAM THEATER Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory 1999 REVIEWED BY BLAKE
|
Review: This release brings DREAM THEATER back to where they should be after the disappointing FALLING INTO INFINITY. This is a full concept album that tells a story from start to finish. Featuring 2 great instrumentals and the killer track HOME and its almost 13 minutes of progressive metal mastery. The ballad of all DT ballads THE SPIRIT CARRIES ON which you can play at my funeral incase I die before my parents. haha. This is the first album with Jordan Rudess in at keyboards and I think bringing in a fresh player into the mix was a great advantage for this release to bring them back to the leaders of the prog metal scene. With the guest voices on this album reminds me of Queensryche's conept OPERATION MINDCRIME release and this ranks right up there with that one. DT is back with a awestruck album. FAV CUTS: Home, The Dance of Eternity, Finally Free Rating: 9 |
