Okay THE RUNAWAYS weren't really METAL but I am sure they did inspire some female metal bands with their sound and probably led to bands like GIRLSCHOOL getting started and did spawn the 80's Metal chick LITA FORD and the hard rock career of JOAN JETT. I even had a couple of RUNAWAYS albums way back when and I suppose my attraction with a all girl rock band that weren't playing stuff like THE GO GO's or whatever crappy music you want to use. Looking back I think well they weren't reallly that great as I can only recall a couple of songs. So I was interested in this movie to see how the band started but after watching the movie I was disappointed in many things portrayed in the movie or should I say the way they were portrayed. First of all just look at the cover and you think did the band only consist of Joan Jett and Singer Cherie Currie?? Where is the rest of the band? I find out after watching this that LIta Ford wanted nothing to do with the movie so thats why her character only has a few lines in the movie. And the Sandy West character is only in scenes with Kirsten Stewart (Joan Jett). The film is moslty about Joan Jett, Cherie Currie and producer Kim Dowley and how his brains is what really makes the band and its disappointing to think the band were just followers of his lead. And the movie misleads for the sake of making it a movie like for example stating in the movie that singer Currie had a problem singing a raunchy lyric but finding out in a interview with the real Cherie Currie that she had no problem at all singing the line in real. And then another problem I have at the end of the movie is after the final scene they show what came of Currie, Jett and even Dowley but no mention of what LIta Ford went and done and not even a comment on how Sandy West passed away to cancer just a few years ago. I guess to help save the movie from total disaster is why they included some girl/girl make out scenes to help it along but for me there just wasn't enough to save it for me.
         This movie is not really a Biography of the band and more like a story of  girls starting a rock band similar to THE RUNAWAYS.
