Now some will say this isn't really heavy metal but for the open minded and the metal fans that like things that are different and don't mind classical music like myself then this is one great album that is so not like most anything you will have listened too. Anna Phoebe who I discovered playing in Trans-Siberian Orchestra and her perfomance at the show just blew me away so I had to look into her and was happy to know that she was doing her own thing too.
This is not classical violin even though it has those moments too, but this is rocking violin!!! Her playing is very impressive and comes off more in a live setting but these 12 instrumental tracks come off very well. It is not just Anna playing the violin as there is band that just adds to her awesome playing. There is a couple of slow songs in THE FAREWELL and FALLEN WARRIOR that are beautifully played but my favourites are the ones that rock and make it okay for a Metal Head to be listening to a violin. ;-) If you can for sure check out THE JOURNEY HOME or BATTLE OF THE GODS just to name 2.
If you ever have the chance to see Anna perform live she is worth seeing, it doesn't hurt that she looks great too but it is so much more and impressive seeing her play live and make that violin sound almost like a guitar at times.
So give it a chance and you will be surprised.
