WOLF
RAVENOUS
2009
REVIEW BY BLAKE
Swedish power metallers WOLF
newest release RAVENOUS is just that ravenous. Following up their great
2006 release THE BLACK FLAME they didn't let their fans down.
Definitely influenced by Maiden, and Helloween type bands with catchy
hooks and galloping metal riffs. This is the bands 5th studio release
and you would think on first hear that they must of been around since
the 80's with the classic metal sound but its not a bad thing as its
refreshing that a band can still come out and play this style of music
and still have their own sound and pull it off. Musicianship is
superior and gets better with each release and the stand out vocals of
Niklas Stalvind lead the parade of power metal classics. Favourite
tracks are HAIL CAESAR, BLOOD ANGEL and the galloping HIDING IN
THE SHADOWS. They might want to try and be more adventurous and expand
some of the songs as they are all in the 4-5 minute range. But making
up for that is one of the greatest song title ever with WHISKEY PSYCHO
HELLIONS!!!
