IRON MAIDEN
POWERSLAVE 1984 |
Review: Eddie gets stoned! That is on the cover in a egyptian theme. Back in the days of albums I remember staring at this cover for a long time looking at the little details artist Derek Riggs included. But of course thats just the cover and the music inside was detailed as well. The first single Two Minutes to Midnight ripped through you with the opening riffs and just told you this album was gonna be another great one from Maiden. The only disappoint for me is the instrumental as never really to fond of Maiden instrumentals. The rest of the album was great with short rockers in Aces High and Flash of the Blade to the epic title track Powerslave to the super epic 13 minute Rime of the Ancient Mariner. It was mind blowing hearing that song live on that tour. This completed the first 5 studio albums for Maiden and it was almost like the end of a certain era for the band as things changed after that. The 1st 5 releases are all classics and always will be. Fav Cuts: Rime of the Ancient
Mariner, Back in the Village, Powerslave |
