IRON MAIDEN PIECE OF MIND 1984
|
Review: The 2nd release Maiden release with
Bruce Dickinson on vocals after the breakthrough with THE BEAST. They would
really be pushing themselves to match that one. A lot of people were still
just still finding out about Maiden. Nicko Mcbrain comes in to replace Clive
Burr on the drums. And he doesn't hurt the music at all. You really hear
his talents especially on THE TROOPER. I used to listen to that song to nauseum
and drove my parents crazy with that one. The short rocker Flight of Icarus
showing off Bruce's screaming ablity. Again this release is just filled with
classic Maiden style and galloping riffs and licks. They balance the shorter
songs with the longer epic styles ones like Where Eagles Dare and To Tame
a Land. Still LIfe being a fav of mine as love the horror movie/theme style
lyrics. Also love the inner notes of the album (back in the day of records)
and the great pic of the band sitting around the dinner table about to feast
on a brain which of course is Eddie's as you can see by the cover his has
been removed. Classic stuff to please any teenager or people like me that
can't grow up. Another classic and must have. Fav Cuts: Still Life, Flight of Icarus, The Trooper Rating: 9 |
