Our Metal Maiden of the Month this time hails from Arizona. Our youngest Metal Maiden ever to be featured on THE METAL PIT And its a good sign to know the young people will help keep Metal alive still. Carrie, whom most people know as Thurisaz, is a die-hard metal fan from Arizona. While she doesn't nessacarily call herself a model she does work with bands modeling t-shirts and other pictures.

Metal Pit: Why do you listen to Heavy Metal?
Carrie: I guess I can answer that with "Why not?!". It is a tough question to answer - something about it just really gets to me in a good way.

What band or moment got you into metal music?
Carrie: It really was Metallica. Odd story - I was babysitting and that day a friend had burnt a Slipknot cd for me. I was listening to it, when the mother came home asked me what I was listening to. She then told me that was not real metal and handed me a Metallica cd. Its gone from there ever since.
Carrie: Oh wow! That is a hard question - Its between Tankard's Zombie Attack or Abigail's Forever Street Metal Bitch. Its really a feeling both give me that I cannot explain!

If someone criticizes Metal or you for listening to Metal what do you have to say in response?
Carrie: Usually I'll try to explain what metal is and isnt - fact and fiction,
other than that I really do not have anything to say to them - if they
dont understand it then it isnt really anything to me. I do not need
their validation to like what I like.

What was your first metal concert?
Carrie: A small gig with some great local bands!

What is the best band you have seen live?
Carrie: Toxic Holocaust - Joel is much better live than he is on any album its amazing.

How do you feel or what is it like for you when you go to a metal concert?
Carrie: "I'm Home"

What Metal band from the past do you wish could reform for one more tour?
Carrie: Beherit [playing their old stuff]
Metal Pit: Your a big fan of the band TANKARD. What is it about that band that stands out for you against others?
Carrie:
Yes I am! Tankard is my favorite band and Im sure the readers have
already noticed that. It is the feeling that they give me that makes
them stand out more than anything else. If I'm having a bad day -
Tankard makes me feel better about it. If I'm having a great day -
Tankard just adds to the fun. If I need to relax [like on a train or a
plane] it can calm me down. And not to mention Tankard provides the
soundtrack to the ultimate party music!!
Not to mention the fact that I have a celebrity crush on Geere

Pit:
What are your thoughts of females in metal bands or just female metal fans in general?
Carrie:
I know a few girls in a metal band right now and they know they have my
full support! Females metal bands are amazing and I think there is a
definate distinction to the agression a female band has to a male band.
Females in metal is amazing to me, but really I guess I feel its
the same as males into metal - I'm just happy there's people into it as
well as me.

What is the Metal scene like in Arizona?
Carrie:
Depends on where you live. For the most part its terrible!! We have a
great band here - Vektor - which I find to be absolutly amazing. But I
live hours away from where they do and with no car I havent been able
to see any of their gigs! We have a few cool grindcore bands down here too.

What is the best venue/arena you been at for a Metal show?
Carrie:
The Living Room here in Tucson has an amazingly close and personal atmosphere which I dig.

Carrie: Its an honor! I feel very flattered to be picked!
