THE METAL PIT:  Why do you listen to Heavy Metal?  
                                  It's an absolute necessity. I need it to function. Sometimes music is the only thing I can identify with on this entire planet. It's gotten me through some really shitty times and overall is basically one big soundtrack to my entire life.


THE METAL PIT:  What was your first metal concert?  
                                 The first show I went to was at age 14,It was Deicide(once upon the cross tour) and Suffocation, touring for Pierced from within.One of my favorite albums to this day! My older brother had thrown together a mixed tape of Deicide's Legion and their self titled album,as well as Effigy from Suffo. Once we got to the club,my mouth dropped...there were people flying into each other,thrashing their heads like mad,and this intense feeling of unity! I remember the pit just expanding to the back of the venue where I was standing,all I could think was holy shit!

THE METAL PIT: What band or moment in your life got you into listening to metal?
                            Well initially I have my older brother Mike to thank for introducing me to the Death/blackmetal genre. Our rooms were next door to eachother,I remember listening through the walls when he would have music on(which was constant)...It was brutal,loud,and just completly evil shit. I became curious and approached him,he wanted to share this fantastic art that was metal and obliged me with some mixed tapes,early DM like Carcass,Deicide,Morbid angel,Broken hope,Death,Pestilence etc. The music just seemed to compliment all the anger and aggresion I possessed at that young age, and I've been hooked ever since!


THE METAL PIT:  What is the best thing about going to a metal concert?
                     Well there's a number of things,Obviously being able to see the bands you love jam songs right in front of your face! Secondly the excitement of the chance they may play one or more of your favorite songs(I prefer never to know the set list before hand),Also just the feeling of pure fucking unification between fans. Joining together with others and just letting go, a chance to be who you are and let out all your negative emotions without being judged.
 



THE METAL PIT: 
            If you can only pick one what is your favorite metal album of all time?

         Suffocation-Breeding the spawn. That album still makes me go crazy after all these years! It's pretty much everything I love about oldschool DM...Gutteral vocals, brutal grooves,and pounding rhythm...Frank Mullen is actually one of the vocalists who inspired me to try and make it as a Death metal singer,that dude is incredible!

                                                                        



THE METAL PIT:  Of current METAL bands pick 3 that would make for your ultimate METAL concert?
               At this curent time Id love to see Acheron,Decrepit birth and probably Origin...Again(they are so good)! On a side note I just found out Acheron is playing their entire Rites of the black mass album at a special 20th anniversary show two weeks from now in Ny,cannot fucking wait for that man!





 
THE METAL PIT:  What is the best club/arena that you have seen a metal concert at?

  I have been to soooo many venues,from huge arenas to tiny ass bars...as of recent though it would have to be BB King's in NY. The place is pretty laid back,decent stage,and excellent sound! Also the people that venture into that place are some of the coolest metal kids Iv met. There's no drama,or egos in those pits. The only draw back about BB king's is the drinks are pricey,but that's why you get a designated driver and "car bar" in the parking lot....Shhhh!


THE METAL PIT:   What is your favorite metal concert you have seen?
            Considering Iv been to over 150 shows in the last 11 years that's a hard one to answer but the one that sticks out most recently was Watain with Angel corpse as the opener...I had never seen Watain live before,they played Dissection's Somberlain as the last song,it was pretty fucking moving. And of course I hadn't seen Angel corpse in many years,they completly destroyed.

 would regroup to do a tour?

This is a tough one,Im gonna have to say three(sorry)

THE METAL PIT:  What do you think of females in metal music, whether its females in metal bands or just female metal fans?
                             
                As far as females in metal go,I think it's important to give credit where credit's due but also not to put so much emphasis on the fact we have tits and a vagina. I mean I personaly love and know as much about metal as the next guy...It's funny though because I still get certain looks at shows when I come walking out of the pit all sweaty(sometimes bloody,haha). I think it's changed over the last 10 years,We are not the women you see walking hand in hand with our Boyfriends because they dragged us to a show. We are the ones helping to make the music by playing our instruments and singing crazy vocals with integrity and skill. The same fans who anticipate shows months in advance,drive for hours to middle of no where venues(just to see that 20 minute set) and mosh like it's our fucking jobs!!!


 
THE METAL PIT:   What does it mean to be a Metal Maiden of the Month?
             Being metal maiden of the month is an opportunity for me as a fan to share some intimate details about the music I love and it's been a pleasure by the way!

          Yes...SUPPORT THE UNDERGROUND...Most of the bands I've mentioned above were at one time playing to 5 or 6 people on a wednesday in some shithole before they got booked on world wide tours and such. Keep the music alive!
