Metal Pit : Greetings to you and
welcome to the Metal Pit.
Diva Satanica: Hi, and
thank you very much for giving me this fantastic chance for spreading
the word about me, haha!
"Diva Satanica" is a pretty unusual name, can you tell us how you came
up with that name and what it means?
Well,
I was looking for a different name that no other model had used before
in the alternative scene, and I needed something which could identify
my feelings and personal thoughts, so I remember the title of one of my
fave songs and here it was..."Diva Satanica" was the perfect name. Diva
Satanica means freedom and the power of individualism in a way, I
believe in me and this strength defines my identity.
I can imagine that name gets alot of attention at times, correct?
Sure, there are still
some kind of prejudgements but this is an advantage too, because this
name has attracted lots of attention from some particular people and
has situated my career in a particular way. The extreme metal scene is
what I like the best and this name is perfect for that.
How old were you when you first got into Metal and who was the first
band you heard?
I was about 13, and I
started to listen to some hardrock bands such as Bon Jovi and Guns
N´Roses, but I had to make my own way because I didn't have a
lot of metal friends. And my first metal show was with Judas Priest
here in my hometown, it was a great beginning but now it´s
pretty far from what I like...haha
What bands are you listening to at this time?
I can listen to almost
all kinds of music, but my fave style right now is the extreme metal
scene: black or death metal are my favorites. Behemoth, Hate, Astarte,
Belphegor, Septic Flesh are some of my faves...But if you ask me for
other different styles I could mention Kamelot, Firewind or Adagio for
example.
You are from La Coruna Spain, can you tell us a little about your
hometown?
Yes, I was born here and
I have lived here always. It´s a little city, with lots of
mysteries and myths: this is the land of witches, warrior women and
giants. We have that little cape called "The end of the Earth" and the
sea is our best weapon. And of course...the food is amazing! haha
What is the Metal scene like there?
Well, it´s not
really big. It depends on the style: heavy metal has always been the
most famous, but the extreme metal scene is really small, despite the
the fact that it is growing . Local bands dont want to play outside of
this charming city, but we have great musicians here. We are having
more and more shows with all the legends of the rock and metal scene
such as Alice Cooper and Motorhead, that we haven´t had
before and there is an increase in the celebration of small concerts
with other bands more into the underground scene.
What is your opinion of women in Metal today and who are some of your
favorite female performers?
There
shouldn´t be questions like this, in my opinion, women have
always been involved in the metal scene, but there will always be some
retrograde people that talk about the different situation of women and
men in this scene. The fact that there are more men that work in the
music industry doesn´t mean that they are better or the only
ones that can do this kind of work, it´s ridiculous and
it´s the same thing as if you were saying that someone who
lives in the Caribbean has skin darker than another that lives in the
Artic. It´s only a question of determination and free will. I
think some women such as Susan Gerl (God Dethroned), Tristessa
(Astarte), Candice (ETHS) or Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy) are very
talented women and they have lots of things to show to the world in
order to break with this kind of prejudgements.
Do you
think female musicians are finally starting to get some of the respect
they deserve from their male counterparts and fans?
We
can´t get some respect if we think that we need it,
it´s our simple and natural right and we should start to show
people that there are things that should just come in a natural way.
What are some of the best live shows you have seen in the past?
What
a difficult question! Possibly Hate, Amorphis, Arch Enemy, Firewind,
Adagio, Kamelot, Metallica...I could mention a lot!
Any band or artist in particular that you have never seen but would
like to see someday?
I´d
like to see lots of very different bands, but I´ll have to
wait until I have the opportunity: Rotting Christ, Finntroll, Septic
Flesh, Gorgoroth, Behemoth, ETHS, The Agonist, Belphegor, Mayhem...the
list would be endless!
I see from your myspace page that you are into modeling, can you tell us
about some of your work?
I
have been involved with the alternative modelling scene for a few years
now and have worked as a model merch for some amazing metal bands like
Blood Red Throne, Otargos or Desecration and very soon for the bands
Hate and Unholy Ritual....... among others. I have worked as a
promotional model for some management agencies such as Dark Angel
Promotions (Greece) or Nekronos Promotion Hell (Portugal and USA), I
have worked for some clothing designers likeVerónica Mella
and Susana Ribeiro. I have worked also for some clothing brands such as
ExeCUTE Clothing (USA) and Damage Clothes (Italy).......and I also have
appeared as an actress in two short films and I have made an appearance
in a short film clip too. I´m a very open-minded girl and and
involved in the art scene alot which is ok for me. I love expressing of
my feelings and play the role of very different people with every
shooting, it´s like acting.
How long have you been into this type of modeling?
I
have been into the alternative scene since my beginings (about 3 years
ago), because it´s original, wild and daring. I love being
different and doing this kind of modelling which answers to my mood and
personality.
Is this something you enjoy doing and would like to do it as
a permanent career?
I
prefer thinking that this is something that I have chosen and something
that I enjoy, it´s not my real job. It´s true that
this takes up a big part of my time, but my real job is working as a
Nurse, on the other hand, I do other things like writing inteviews and
reviews for one Greek webzine called Subexistance.com, and this is
something that I´d like to take more seriously in the future.
I love modelling but we all grow old, and this is something that I know
that I can do only temporarily.
What other things do you enjoy doing?
I
love writing for the Subexistance site, I have learned a lot and I have
talked with amazing people that have let me know their particular
points of view. I am writing a kind of book that will be composed with
about 20 short stories, hopefully I can finish and publish it soon! I
love going to the cinema, going to metal shows, belly-dancing...I used
to go to the gym, but due to my shortage of free time, I have given it
up.
Can you tell us something about yourself that most people do
not know about you?
There
are lots of thing that people dont know about me because I am a very
reserved person, so...if someone doesn´t know something about
me it's because I don´t want them to know it! haha
Where can people find out more about you and see some of your modeling
pics?
They
can visit my official myspace www.myspace.com/rossievady or check out
my facebook fan page

Is there anything at all you would like to add to this
interview?

meet again in the future. Congrats on your great site and your labor
and I hope lots of people can read this in order to keep on spreading
the word about me. Thanx for this fantastic chance and...cheers!
