                                                                                      AUGUST

The August Metal Maiden Cyndi hails from WI, USA. She was MISS OZZFEST for the 2006 MADISON show.

 BIO/INTRO

During most weekdays, I live a "girl next door" kind of life. My days involve working full time in a business office, taking on-line college courses for my degree in Associate of Arts in Business Administration, and doing home-improvement projects. I also like to cook dinner and have a beer or two.  My free time is spent at a lot of metal shows/concerts, either local bands or national acts. I love supporting local metal...and this area of Wisconsin can be tough to find the support. I like to function more in the promoting and networking arena, such as creating/distributing posters and flyers, taking photos, sending emails/bulletins, among other things. Of course, I work more exclusively with the band Time To Kill, as they are based out of my local area.
I love to party, hang out with friends, travel, meet new people and experience new things!  Metal, beer, and making life fun! That's me, wrapped up like a piece of candy!

THE METAL PIT:  Why do you listen to Heavy Metal?
It makes me feel alive and allows me be lost in the rawness of something, or even nothing. Metal is motivating and inspiring...it makes me wanna dig into the dirt and just fuckin' charge!

THE METAL PIT:  How or what got you into listening to Heavy Metal?   I'm pretty sure I fell in love with metal when Metallica's "One" video came out. From there, it was all I wanted to know and hear!

THE METAL PIT:  Your top 5 Metal bands?

Only 5?! I suppose right now, and in no particular order...

Slayer
Death Angel
Slipknot
Ministry
Hatebreed

THE METAL PIT:  Favourite concert you have ever seen?  Definately SLAYER! Out of the 6 (or so) times I've seen those guys, I can't really pick which one was the best. Always, always, a great show!

THE METAL PIT: What is the best thing about going to a Metal Concert?       You can be dirty and loud...the total abandonment of inhibitions!  The power and energy is amazing!

THE METAL PIT:  If someone says to you "Why do you listen to Heavy Metal?" What is your response?        It's who I am, and who I will always be. You can't explain what your heart desires.

THE METAL PIT:  What was the first metal concert you saw?       Ha ha, it was the Milwaukee Metal Fest when I was 18! I went into the pit and got a busted lip...friggin' sweet! \m/ If you don't know what Milwaukee Metal Fest is all about, just Google it.

THE METAL PIT:  What are your thoughts on females in Heavy Metal?
I think females playin' in metal bands is cool, I'm totally for it. I only wish I was talented enough to be in a band! Ha ha!
As far a female metal fans go, well, I AM one. We're still a rare breed (among the entire music world), but hell, who cares?!

THE METAL PIT: Outside of Heavy Metal what is most important to you in life?  My other metal half...of course! We share a lot, and so anything without him isn't really important. : )

THE METAL PIT:  What is your favorite Metal album of all time and why?       This is just crazy...I guess if I have to pick one that I could not live without, it would be Slayer God Hates Us All.  I don't know why, it's just become a tatoo in my music collection.

THE METAL PIT:  What is the best club/bar you have ever witnessed a heavy metal show at?  That is most certainly The Eagles Ballroom, Milwaukee, WI.

THE METAL PIT: What was your experience like being MISS OZZFEST MADISON 2006?

Well, to be technical, Ozzfest was not held in Madison, it was in East Troy (at Alpine Valley). So, they just screwed up the title.
Anyways, it was the fuckin' coolest time I've ever had! You really haven't experience life until you've been on stage in front of thousands and thousands of people! During the entire contest, there were many haters on various websites who didn't approve of this so-called Ozzfest beauty contest. Hell, even before this time, my friends called me the "Ozzfest Queen" just cause of how much I loved it and so intensively planned for the party! I was glad I was voted the winner because it was not a "beauty" contest for me...I was there to have a good time and represent the women who love Ozzfest and the music! I've been going to Ozzfest for 10 years, and so this was like a dream come true. The best parts of the day was hanging out in the back-stage action, meeting all the bands and people, and seeing Ozzy closer than most anyone would ever get to! All in all, it was a hella-awesome time...it was THE experience of a lifetime. I've already got my plans set for this year's 'Fest! \m/

THE METAL PIT:  Why did you want to be a METAL MAIDEN of the MONTH?      I'm a voice for all of woman-kind! (haha) Horns high ladies! Grrrr!  \m/ \m/

THE METAL PIT: What band or musician that you have met was the best to meet?

I've met so many (major) bands over the years, it's just difficult to pick the "best" one. Most all bands I've met have been really awesome....here are a just a few (either all of, or some members) that I've met:

Hatebreed
Kittie
Dope
Anew Revolution
Staind
NonPoint
Death Angel
Drowning Pool (with Dave)
Impaler

THE METAL PIT:  What is the best metal band to come out in the last 10 or so years?

If you read any of this, you'd see that Hatebreed it one of my fav bands. The are some fuckin' hard core guys and they're music and concerts are just so damn intense!

THE METAL PIT: If you could bring back any METAL band from the past and be able to see them live what band would it be?

I think most metal bands of the past that I like and have seen in concert (like Black Sabbath) are still alive?! But I guess, back in the dayz of early metal, I would love to see Led Zeppelin or Jimi Hendrix.

THE METAL PIT: Thanks for being the Metal Maiden for August. Any closing thoughts to the viewers of THE METAL PIT?
          Keep supporting the metal love!
