Metal Pit: Greetings Cinthya, we are very psyched to
have you here with us on the Metal Pit.
Cinthya: Thank u!!! I'm
really happy to.
You are the lead guitarist for the band
Mystica Girls, can you tell us a little about the band and the other ladies in
the band?
We began playing covers in 2005, in 2007 we started to
produce our own material and now we are releasing our Cd "Metal Rose", the other
band members are: Jane - bass, Sofia -vocals, and Alice -drums.
How did all of you get together and decide to form a Metal
band?
I met Jane accidentally in a bar, I always wanted
to have an all-girl band, I had been waiting for 4 years before I meet her, she
arrived with her band and they needed a girl guitar player, so I took that
place, 2 years later Alice joined the band and finally Sofia... it was really
hard to find the right people, but fortunately here we are, and we started to
make some music, in different styles, but we concluded metal music was the genre
we were looking for.
Was an all female band something you
wanted from the start or did it just sort of happen?
We definitely
wanted an all female band! And its really difficult to find female musicians
over here!!!!
Can you describe the band's music for
us?
Well, I think it's really melodic, with some technical passages,
haha, its hard to explain,its just our sound hahaha.
Your
hometown is Mexico City, can you tell us a little about your home?
It’s an underrated place, one of the biggest and richest cities in the World, it
has everything you can imagine, and more..... hundreds of museums, monuments,
palaces, skyscrapers, amusement parks, stadiums… of course it has it’s
disadvantages to living there as well, like lots of traffic and
people.
What is the Metal scene like there?
It's
a little difficult, sometimes people here prefer to listen music from other
countries, thats why we are trying to promote our music in other places, but
there are many good metal bands in this country.
Are
there any favorite clubs that you all like to play in?
There aren´t as
many metal clubs here, its a little difficult to play this genre in the city, I
think the right one is Circo Volador.
What is a Mystica Girls
live show like?
Interesting, we leave our heart on the stage , we try to
give a good show XD.
The band has about 5-6 tunes out but
when can we expect a full cd from you guys?
We released this cd with 6
songs due to the time restrictions, we have the urge to show people our new
stuff, while we prepare the next cd
Will the new cd have
lyrics in Spanish and English as well?
Yes 4 songs are in Spanish and 2 in
English.
You are quite an accomplished guitarist and if I
may say from watching some of your videos, you can most definitely shred the axe
my friend. At what age did you start playing guitar and who were some of your
influences?
I started late, I have been playing the guitar for 6 years,
and I love some guitarists like Alexi Lahio and Jason Becker
How would you describe your playing style?
I love shredding,I'm
studying a lot to improve my technique, I like playing like a really hard, bad
ass, haha.
What kind of gear do you use and why?
Jackson guitars and Mesa boogie, I love this combination.
Do
you use the same gear when you are playing live as opposed to when you are in
the studio?
Yes,I try to always use the same gear.
I love your new vid for the song "Metal Rose",was it fun making that video and
is that something you would like to do more of in the future?
Yes, we
want to make another vid, but we need more money hahaha, we will film it as soon
as posible.
You all seem like a pretty tight group of
musicians, are you all very close?
Yes, all the band members are my
family.
The band is currently unsigned, what do you think
Mystica Girls needs to do to go to that next level and get the attention of a
record company?
Well hehe ,I think we need more publicity and to get
more fans,I hope its only a matter of time, why not? Hehee.
Cinthya as a member of an all female Metal band, what is your opinion of women
in the Metal scene today?
I love it, I really like to see girls playing
"heavy music".
Do you think women are finally starting to
get the respect they deserve as musicians?
Yes, it’s finally happening,
but I think it will still take a little more time...
Do you
think of yourself as a role model or mentor to young women out there who may
want to follow in your footsteps and if so, what advice would you give to
them?
it will be an honor if that happens, I would just recommend to
never leave your dreams... go for them...
I am sure the band
keeps you very busy but what other kinds of things aside from music do you enjoy
doing?
I love sleeping hahaha, and playing pool, but I have no
time..
Ok Cinthya,do you have any funny stories from the
road you can tell us?
Haha, yes, here is a little one, one day I was
playing covers in a club called "Zona Rosa", in the middle of the show an
enormous cockroach appears on my guitar head, my singer started to scream!, the
drummer tried to hit them with her drumsticks and the cockroach didn’t move, it
was horrible!!!
Is there anything at all you would like to

How does it feel to be chosen as Metal Maiden of the month?
It’s
really flattering, I really appreciate your support, hope to stay in touch, and
