Welcome to the METAL PIT'S METAL MAIDEN OF THE MONTH section. This is
where we will feature each month a Metal Maiden that is either a fan of
METAL or in a METAL band. We will find out how they got into METAL and
why they are METAL fans. For previous Metal Maiden's of the Month see
the bottom of this page. Or just click in the drop down box and click
on Previous Metal Maidens.
JUNE 2008
The June METAL MAIDEN of the month is Cat. Cat hails from the north of England, Blackpool to be precise, and she likes
to drink beer and make a fool of herself in front of important and
influential rock stars. In her spare time she she is a roadie for Nemhain and
does some occasional modeling work.
THE
METAL PIT: Why do you listen to Heavy Metal? I grew up listing to bands like Led Zeppelin and Guns N' Roses because my
parents were into them. I suppose my friends were an influence too and I like
the style that went with it.
THE METAL PIT: What was your first metal concert? The first gig I went to was American Head Charge, One minute Silence, In Flames
and Slipknot. AHC were pretty amazing. In Flames are my favorite band I even
have a drumskin signed by them!
THE METAL PIT: Your top 5 Metal bands?
In Flames
Paradise Lost
Turisas
The 69 Eyes
Type O
Negative
But it tends to change a lot so they're the bands I'm listening
to at the moment.
THE METAL PIT: What is the best thing about going to a metal concert?
The beer, ha ha! It's always great to see a band live because it just adds
something else to the music. I think it's important to support the bands as well
so I always try and buy a Tshirt or something. That way you're directly
supporting them.
THE METAL PIT:
If you can only pick one what is your favorite metal album of all time?
In Flames - Whoracle it's my favorite album by them I'm probably going to have
the song Dialogue With The Stars played at my funeral. It's an instrumental
track and it's beautiful.
THE METAL PIT: Outside of Heavy Metal what is most important in your life? Well my partner is pretty important to me and my family of course. I do a bit of
modeling, I'm going to be in the Ed Stone Rockwear 2009 calendar, so watch out
for that. And Ed Stone make cool clothes.
THE METAL PIT: What is your favorite metal concert you have seen?
I think the first time I went to watch my boyfriend's band play was pretty
special. I love going on tour with Nemhain all their gigs are fun. I'm a
festival person, I like seeing loads of bands over a couple of days, I'm not
into camping though.
THE METAL PIT: Which metal band from the past do you wish could or would regroup to do a tour?
I'd like to see Sikth play, I missed them a couple of times so I was pretty
disappointed when they broke up. I think I'd liked to have seen Nirvana as well.
THE METAL PIT: What is the HEAVY METAL scene like in the UK?
The scene in the UK is great. I don't think we realise how lucky we are as
there's so many bands that come over here to play from Europe and the US and we
have a lot of homegrown talent. There's clubs that cater for just about every
genre of metal and it's pretty well supported by the fans.
THE METAL PIT: What is the best club/arena that you have seen a metal concert at?
I think the Academy 2 in Manchester is a great venue. The Winter Gardens in
Blackpool is nice it's like a ballroom with a stage. I went to Hard Rock Hell
Festival in November last year and it was held in a holiday camp which was
really surreal. We all got little chalets to stay in and the catering was
amazing!
THE METAL PIT: Of current METAL bands pick 3 that would make for your ultimate METAL concert?
The 69 Eyes
Type 0 Negative
Turisas
THE
METAL PIT: What do you think of females in metal music, whether its
females in metal bands or just female metal fans?
I'm a fan of female fronted metal bands. I'm really into old Nightwish stuff, I
have a lot of respect for Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy, she's great. I have to
love Nemhain as well as I go on tour with them. Morrigan Hel is a great
frontwoman, she's so full of attitude.
THE METAL
PIT: What does it mean to be a Metal Maiden of the Month?
It's great, thanks for choosing me. I think it's cool to have opinions
on the metal scene and the music business, some of these questions
really made me think! Hopefully you're all still reading this and I
haven't bored anyone.
THE METAL PIT: Thanks
for being the Metal Maiden of the month.. Any closing thoughts to the
viewers of THE METAL PIT?
Thanks for having me! Hope you all enjoy my pictures and I hope you check out
the bands I mentioned Nemhain and Dreambreed http://www.myspace.com/nemhainband
