OVERKILL
IRONBOUND
2010
REVIEW BY BLAKE
Its been 26 years since the
first Overkill release and age and time has not slowed down or turned
down the Overkill sound. If your looking for something new your not
gonna get it but if your looking for your fix of old school trash look
no further then the newest release IRONBOUND. When you have this many
albums and been around this many years your gonna hear similarities
with past songs/albums but the new songs still have that kick to make
them be more then just a new recording. The band featuring
original members Bobby Blitz Ellsworth (vocals) and D.D. Verni (bass)
with guitarists Dave Linsk and Derek Tailer who have been in the band
since 2000 and the most recent member Rob Lipnicki on drums since 2005.
Overkill has never in my opinion had any really bad albums as they
always stay true to the thrash sound and still can rip it up with the
best of them. This release is filled with many thrash metal riffs that
Overkill has always been known for. Standouts are GOAL IS YOUR SOUL,
THE GREEN AND BLACK and the 8 minute title track. This is their 15th
studio album so if your new to Overkill then you have a vast back
catalogue to choose from. (YEARS OF DECAY is a gem)
