It’s been a long, long, loooong time since we’ve heard anything new from Chicago power metallers ION VEIN, but they’re back with a new digital EP titled IV v1.0 (produced by none other than the legendary Neil Kernon), and after just one listen, I can say it was well worth the wait.

Founding member and guitarist Chris Lotesto has recruited two veteran musicians of the Chicago metal scene for this revamped version of Ion Vein - Chuck White (ex-Winterkill) on drums and Rob Such (Twelfth Gate/ex-Syris) on bass. Rounding things out in a big way is vocalist
Scott Featherstone of New York’s own Enertia. The result is a bigger,
badder Ion Vein that’s still melodic, but edgier and scruffier than before. As always, Featherstone sings his ass off, and it’s an absolute pleasure to hear him singing once again.

For now, this EP is available as a free download. To listen, click this link: http://www.mortal-music.com/IonVein/DR1.html Let’s hope this reborn Ion Vein will release a full-length disc very soon!
