METAL PIT INTERVIEW
Interview with Margaret of A.D.D. Interview by NICK. June 2009.
A.D.D. (Analog Digital Disorder) is a band from Lockport Illinois (U.S.) whose sound I would classify as Heavy Metal /Hard Rock which sounds like a combination of Godsmack/Heart and Sevendust.
Their vocalist Margaret was kind enough to speak with us today......

THE METAL PIT: Hello Margaret, thanks for being with us today.
Margaret: Thank you for having me.
THE METAL PIT: You and I have something in common in that one of the people we would both like to meet is the late "Dawn Crosby" singer for the band "Fear of God".I think she was an Amazing talent and way ahead of her time,do you agree?
Margaret: I certainly do agree. At the time there was no one who could belt out such haunting melodies with such heart wrenching screams. I felt a certain kindred spirit with her. Misunderstood, betrayed, cheated, taken for granted. I try to put as much passion into my own vocals but I don’t think I would ever compare
THE METAL PIT: A.D.D. stands for "Analog Digital Disorder" which is kind of unusual, where did the band name come from?
Margaret: Analog-the old way, Digital- the new way. We kinda try to mix it all in there.
THE METAL PIT: How would you describe your music and who were some of your personal influences growing up?
Margaret: I would describe it as heavy rock with melodic if not harsh vocals. My personal influences were Doro Pesch, Dawn Crosby, Ann Wilson, Geoff Tate, Rob Halford, Sandra Nasic, etc. etc. My list is very long. Haha.
THE METAL PIT: The band's cd is entitled " Elements of Emptiness" and seems to be doing very well. As the singer do you write any of the lyrics for the band?
Margaret: About 80 % of them I wrote and co-wrote the rest with my guitarist Jeremy Sparta.
THE METAL PIT: A.D.D. has opened for some pretty big names in Metal such as Otep,Kittie,Doro and Dope....what was it like playing for those crowds and did the fans seem to respond well to your band?
Margaret: Awesome. I think we did a pretty good job winning them over after a bit. The most awesome was Doro due to the fact that I had grown up with her, never seen her live & I got to open for her which was unbelievable to me. I myself was star struck as they say.
THE METAL PIT: Life on the road can be brutal at times and I hear you have a special "Dead Van"
story you might want to share with us today?
Margaret: We bought this piece of shit van from a shady ex-band member of mine. (I knew it was a lemon but whatever). Tuned it up, had it running good then had to sell it to a junk yard for $60 bucks & rent a U-Haul to finish out our trip. Most stressful & fund draining. In happier news we had some great shows & gained a lot of new fans. So it wasn’t a total loss. I think we still owe money on that stupid van. haha
THE METAL PIT: Well at least the Flight of the Valkerie's festival is relativley close to your hometown, maybe you can bum a ride to the show, haha?
Margaret: Yea, I’ll be the one on the side of the road in my platform boots with a suitcase dragging along behind me with my thumb up in the air. haha
THE METAL PIT: How was the band approached to play the festival?
Margaret: I’d heard about it when we played with Doro. I brought it up to Dave, my guitarist and he contacted the festival organizers last year and they liked what they heard. They also work with Carrie Sharp of Femme Metal Records (our UK label) and she was instrumental in getting us on as well. As well as our super fans Tim and Kim in Wisconsin. I know they had initially contacted the organizers as well.
THE METAL PIT: There are some pretty talented bands playing with you, what do you think A.D.D. brings to the show that might be a little different than the other bands?
Margaret: Awesome musicianship & a passion that’s been missing in a lot of music these days.
THE METAL PIT: Women in Metal seem to be stronger than ever today, what is your opinion on women in the scene?
Margaret: I’m loving what I see. For so long we were shunned & not taken seriously. Now they have found out we can kick your teeth out with the best of them! And laugh while doing it.
THE METAL PIT: I want to thank you for taking time to chat with us today Margaret.I wish you success with the new cd and have fun at the festival.
Margaret: Thanks again for having me & I will definitely be having some fun with my new found girlfriends of metal!
