Interview with Chris E of CELLBOUND   

       CHRIS E...co-vocalist of Ohio Metal band CELLBOUND talks about her band and herself in this interview with THE METAL PIT. If your in the OHIO area make sure to check her and Cellbound live and I am sure very soon they will be expanding their tour area. So keep on the lookout for CELLBOUND.


       THE METAL PIT:         Describe your band CELLBOUND?

                     CHRIS E:        CELLBOUND is a six-member band hailing from the Cleveland/Akron, Ohio area. They have developed their own unique sound by using heavily distorted guitars overlaid with melodic arrangements and a powerful blend of both male and female lead vocals.



          THE METAL PIT:      What would one expect from going to a CELLBOUND live show?

                       CHRIS E:      A wild heavy metal ride with endless energy and a crowd that is involved. Involved by moshing, head banging, fists in the air, singing along, oh and of course drinking beer on stage with Cellbound and our famed Skull Bong! Yes we do beer bongs on stage! LOL!

       





      THE METAL PIT:      How did your band come about?



                  CHRIS E:      The band formed in 2006 by our drummer Todd Alley, and we released a 6 song EP in 2007 called Nothing To Die For. We've gone through some member changes (2 guys relocated to Texas and one wanted to just play covers) and have gotten a new guitarist, bass player and singer. Our sound has really startd to gel and grow with the new members.



             



  THE METAL PIT:       Tell us about the rest of the band?

               CHRIS E:       CELLBOUND IS:

Tom Herttna – Lead Vocal
Dave Borowske – Guitar
Shaun Vanek – Guitar
Todd Alley – Drums
Greg Baise – Bass

We are a hard working group of musicians with different strenghts and influnences and talents, but we all share a passion for metal and seem to have come up with a way to blend all of our styles into our own sound. We've been compared to many different varied bands, which I like, since we don't seem to fit in one category. Our fan base is also very diverse in age and in metal tastes.




               THE METAL PIT:        When did you decide you wanted to be a singer in a METAL band?

                            CHRIS E:        I have always sung and found metal as a teenager. It has power and beauty which moves me and inspires me and just gets me going!

            THE METAL PIT:        Who are some of your influences and your bands influences?

                         CHRIS E:          The band is influenced by everything from Testament, Lacuna Coil, Slayer, Sabbath, Metallica, Zeppelin and lots of European and Trash/Death Metal bands.

             Personally, my biggest influences are the 4 D's! (some people say my 2 D's are big influences, LOL!) The 4 D's being, Dio, Dickinson, Doro and Dolly.

           THE METAL PIT:      What is up with CELLBOUND right now?
                                                                                                                               
                        CHRIS E:         We are playing alot of live shows and we are putting the finshing touches on our first full length release. It features 10 tracks and will be out in the fall of 2008.

Cellbound's album will be titled:

 THE METAL PIT:           There is more metal bands these days then ever before with female singers. Does this make it easier or it still a hard thing to convince some people that you belong?

                CHRIS E:           I've always felt I belong and I've always been blessed to be embraced by many different people. I truly believe in metal and what comes from my heart and gut is real. Not everyone likes the same music and I know there are some people who are not fans of Cellbound because of their musical tastes but at the same token those people have respected what I do in the fashion that I do it. This is what true metal heads are all about, diversity, respect and let's just have a fuckin' head banging party!





             THE METAL PIT:        Is CELLBOUND the only band your involved in?

                          CHRIS E:        Cellbound is my main focus and I love this band. I feel like I have 5 brothers and they all think it is funny to get me pissed drunk! Never before a performance though, LOL!
I am doing some side projects that range from a progressive european style to a straight ahead in your face trash/metal attack. The musicians are great when it is done I really look forward to sharing the music collaborations!
 





              THE METAL PIT:           When your not being a METAL SINGER what do you for fun or relaxation?



                          CHRIS E:           I love to hike and recently conquered some crazy Grand Canyon trails. I also am a pretty good cook and when I get the chance I love going to the movies, not just renting them, but going!





              THE METAL PIT:      Right now your just playing live shows in your home state of OHIO. Any plans soon to expand and tour more of the US and maybe beyond?



                          CHRIS E:            We do play in Ohio alot, and it's great to be with close friends and family and we always meet new people at the shows too! We will soon be expanding to New York, Detroit, and a mini East Coast tour with our goal to play some shows in Europe next year.
