DREAM THEATER

Review:

When I first heard the opening riffs of PULL ME UNDER I was hooked on this band. DREAM THEATER the leaders of the Progressive Metal movement out of the 90's. Taking their influences from bands like PINK FLOYD, RUSH, YES etc. they blended that mentality with the metal mindset of bands like MAIDEN and METALLICA and DT was formed. This is the 2nd release of the band but first with James Labrie at the vocals. This remains my favorite DT release but that could be as it is the one I found this band with but every song has its own flavour and texture. I am not a big fan of ballad but even they make me like those the way they do them. But the real highlights are mega epics of METROPOLIS PT1 and LEARNING TO LIVE. The whole band is masters of their instruments. If your looking for quick 4-5 minute songs with verse, verse, chorus, and verse then this is not what your looking for. There is so many changes of pace on this and each time I listen to this I could pick a different favorite song. This is one of my favs of all time.

FAV CUTS: Metropolis Pt. !, Pull Me Under, Learning to Live
