German  power metal masters Helloween celebrate  25 years of existence with a different type of best of cd.  Instead of just re mastering their best songs or just putting them out again on a best of cd which I find useless as I find along with other metal bands that have been around for 25 years is the fans have all the albums so whats the point in having a best of cd? So instead of doing that the Helloween boys decided to go a different way and take some of their best songs and change them and even have them come across as totally different sounding songs then the originals. There is guest musicians ,and vocalists. Choirs and some work from the Prague Symphony Orchestra.  Now this is not like Metallica's mix with a orchestra as these Helloween songs are re arranged and changed to make them different. I am sure some people will not like this as the songs are mostly their ballad hits so its more commercial then anything they have done but I really think the band did this for fun and to be different and its not like their next studio album will continue in this way. I think its a very interesting recording and on the first listen it does take awhile to figure out what song your listening too. The highlight would be the 17 minute trilogy of Halloween/Keeper of the 7 Keys/The King for a 1000 Years. There is a few of the heavy hits here with Dr. Stein, Future World and I Want Out which features a childrens choir singing the chorus and makes me wish my kid's schools would have them singing these types of songs instead of the lame ones they teach, but I digress. The majority of the rest of the songs are the more ballad type songs like If I Could Fly, Where The Rain Grows, and Forever and One. There is 12 cuts on the cd and I like it as I find its something different and a nice change for a best of album. These songs will never replace the originals but for me its a enjoyable listen and if your open minded to the classical elements and the jazz elements it is worth a listen. .
