*Warning* This album is for the musically adventurous listener and is not recommended for those that cannot comprehend the true musicianship. The sophomore effort from U.K. progsters, Haken is a step above their impressive debut album “Aquarius”. From the opening instrumental, “Premonition” to the closing song, ‘Visions”, and with 8 songs clocking in at over one hour of music, Haken take you on an epic musical journey filled with complexity, emotion and beauty. From the sharp amazing guitar work of lead player Charlie Griffiths, to the emotional vocals of Ross Jennings and the precise rhythm section of Ray Hearne on drums and Tom Maclean on bass, the Haken sound is defined by ethereal and, at times, 70’s prog rock sound of dual keyboard players Richard Henshall and Diego Tejeida. I would advise Dream Theater to start looking in their rearview mirror because Haken are coming for their title of “kings of prog metal”!

        Rating: a VERY proggy 8.5
