DREAM THEATER

Falling Into Infinity

1997

REVIEWED BY BLAKE

Review:

This 1997 release was a attempt to gain more wide spread success with more commercial type songs that was pushed onto them from what I understand and it didn't work out the way it was hoped but worked out great if you wanted DT to go back to their true progressive sound and feel. More slower ballads on this one then the previous and James Labrie's voice works well for them but just to many on one album for my liking. They had a heavy rocker in BURNING MY SOUL and a semi rocker in PERUVIAN SKIES but overall this was a softer release with songs like HOLLOW TEARS and ANNA LEE. Its not that these are bad songs just to much. I think most DT fans would agree this to be the least fav album of theirs.

FAV CUTS: Burning My Soul, Peruvian Skies, New Millennium
