DEMONS AND WIZARDS

DEMONS AND WIZARDS

1999

Review: This cd is the combining of what I would call 2 up and coming stars of Progressive Metal. With the lead vocalist of Blind Guardian (Hanzi Kursch) and the guitar of Iced Earth's (Jon Schaffer) they have created one great cd. Now myself I
was not familiar with either band before I got this. So I can't compare them to there current bands. All I can say is I like this. I was expecting a ballad here or there but there is not one true ballad song.....but most of the songs have spots of
slower parts and picks up to power riffs.....its a great combo I think. The singing is great and the music is just as great. The cover art is also very cool with the skeleton guy playing violin in a cemetary setting with 2 young kids listening......cool
kinda horror movie kinda scene. Poor Man's Crusade being the first thing I heard from this cd still being my fav. cut. It is one of the only songs that stays heavy throughout.......Hanzi  has a great scream that is placed over the cd. I would say its a concept album......but instead of trying to give my view on what its about you will have to buy it yourself. I just think I might have to check out there other bands now. I'm sure fans of those bands will like this.

Fav Cuts:  Poor Man's Crusade, Gallows Pole, My Last Sunrise.
