IRON MAIDEN

THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST

1982

Review: The first Maiden album I ever had. I read a article about Maiden in Circus magazine and I thought now that sounds good. It was my 16th birthday I never heard them before but asked for the album anyway and I was not disappointed. It changed my life. That is I used to listen to the radio and hear all the top 40 hits but this opened the door to so much music. Enter the new singer Bruce (Air Raid) Dickinson. Formerly of Samson. He added his powerful vocals and the music is more powerful then before. Its an incredible piece of work. Still in the horror mood except for "22 Acacia Avenue" which is about a call girl. The rest of the songs are along the lines of horror, war or being a prisoner. Hallowed be Thy Name dealing with being in prison being sent to death. Is an incredible song with Bruce's timely screams. Everything was getting better with this release. Vocals, music, and lyrics. Even the cover art work. Its all there. This is one album that no one should be without. If I could just get this 666 tattoo off my arm. :-)
