IRON MAIDEN

A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH

2006

REVIEW BY SAMANTHA

Review:  Here’s the new one from Iron Maiden and after the disappointing Dance of Death I had high hopes for this one, seeing how at least the front cover is better!  After the first few spins, I was beginning to like it.  It’s in the same style as their previous two albums, showing a more progressive side to them.  Which I don’t mind progressive but after a few more spins I was becoming bored!  Seven of the ten tracks are over 6 minutes!  This isn’t a problem if you can make the songs interesting instead of winding on going nowhere, which is the problem I have with the album.  The songs are longer than they need to be and I find this album is enjoyed best when listening to a few songs at a time.  Honestly, it’s too much to handle all at once.  I hate to say that about Iron Maiden because they are one of my favorite bands but this album isn’t one of their best.
