ABADDEN is a 4 piece thrash band from the UK that are
scoring good reviews with their debut cd SENTENCED TO DEATH. These guys
are young but they play like they have been doing this a long time. One
of the best debut thrash cds I have heard. Its not anything original
but if you want your metal with lots of maching gun drumming
and pounding bass and many head banging guitar riffs this cd can
fulfill that need. The band won a unsigned band contest for the chance
to record this cd. Every song has its moments but standouts for me are
THE HAND THAT FEEDS and ATOMIC DEVASTATION. It is old school thrash
reminding you of early 80's thrash like Death Angel music but the
vocals are more brutal and closer to modern day heavy metal vocals but
there is no mistaking the nods to the classic thrash. The lyrics are
dark with song titles like THE DAY OF RECKONING, RESURRECTION, and
VIOLENT ASSAULT and you get the idea of where the band is going. This
is a must listen for any thrash metal fan.
